Italian Expedition (pilot): military history, mateship, culture

Location: Dolomites

Cohort Size: 5 participants

Project Objective:

A meaningful bridge between personal military experience and the wider story of global history, mateship and culture. Through challenge-based activities and rich cultural immersion -art, food, nature, movement -we explore legacy, belonging, and the quiet power of connection across time, place, and people, creating pathways for reintegration, remembrance, and renewed connection.

Why it matters:

A journey of remembrance and honour -this program affirms a veteran’s place in a broader lineage, reinforcing that their story is part of something enduring, not isolated.

Who it is designed for:

Targeted to individuals that are at risk of self-isolation.

What they get from it:

Context for their service within something larger and enduring. Walking WWI battlefields creates tangible proof that their experience isn't isolated -it's part of a continuum that matters. Mental stimulation and renewed curiosity. Cultural immersion breaks the pattern of isolation and reignites engagement with the world beyond their own story. Immediate, authentic connections with their cohort. Bonds formed through shared challenge rather than shared trauma -relationships that prove mateshipis still accessible and continue through the veteran-alumni network. Frameworks for making sense of transition. They return recharged with proof -not theory -that meaningful connection, purpose, and forward movement are real and available. Optional family debrief helps translate the experience into daily life. Ongoing access to the cohort community ensures the reset isn't temporary.
